Importance of Yoga for Pregnant Women

Yoga is a discipline that, through several postures and simple meditation, helps one gain both mental calmness and physical fitness. It also has many relaxation characteristics which are attained via simple meditation.

Yoga is prescribed by many obstetricians to pregnant women because of its benefits. This is also known as Prenatal Yoga.

Prenatal Yoga, for one, helps tone a mother’s body and prepares it for the childbirth and increases the tolerance for pain. It also makes a woman calm during the labour so the child can come into this world without the mother taking any pain medication.

During pregnancy, a woman faces many discomforts like insomnia, lower back pain, headaches, nausea and carpal tunnel syndrome, these can be relieved by yoga.  It stretches one's body and its muscles so they stay flexible and doesn’t stiffen up, making a woman more active.

Many yoga trainers also claim that yoga helps you connect with the baby. When your body relaxes, it feels more in touch with the baby.

Needless to say that pregnant woman should not partake in yoga without any guidance and should always have a trainer with them to help them through the asanas.

When your body is healthy, relaxed and flexible, it is natural for the child to be born healthy too.
